Nick’s senior dog Anna had passed at the end of last year, but he had no plans to adopt another dog. Nick happened to be off work for a few days when he received a photo from the Operations Director of a 9 month old puppy who had recently arrived. Something touched Nick about the photo of Corey and rather than waiting until he was back at work, Nick took a ride to Satchel’s that very day to meet the puppy. Since Nick is a Satchel’s staff worker, he was able to meet Corey inside the kennel area. He walked into Corey’s kennel, sat down on his bed and Corey immediately climbed into Nick’s lap. Nick knew at once that Corey was meant to be with him and spent the next two hours getting to know Corey and bonding. A week later, lucky Corey went to his forever home with Nick. For the first two weeks, Corey was very timid in his new environment and most of the time stayed under Nick’s desk. Slowly, but surely, Corey gained confidence and is now living a fun and happy life with Nick. Corey has been on a full adventure to Red Bug Slough and Nick has been working on his leash training. Nick says Corey is definitely in the midst of exuberant puppyhood and loves his toys and playing non-stop. Nick calls him “Nugget” as he describes Corey as “golden brown and fried to perfection!” Corey hit the jackpot with Nick and Nick has a very special buddy to care for and love for many years to come!
