Boxer / Mixed (short coat)

Allman is the definition of a Boxer, from his looks to his personality traits! This 5-year-old boy is always looking for opportunity to play, and loves making everything a game. He is a great ball player and may not always bring it back, but his enthusiasm keeps the game going. He enjoys carrying toys around wherever he goes, squeaky toys are super fun, but Kong toys are also wonderful. Like most Boxers, he also enjoys Boxing with his people, jumping up and giving a light two paw pounce. He also has a prankster side with shoes and likes to untie your laces when you are walking. He is loyal to his friends here at Satchel's but can be a bit picky. He takes a little time to get to know people and, although he is high energy, he prefers a calm first-time meeting. Allman has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working on his acceptance of new people. Once accepted, Allman is a loving, playful, intelligent boy who can't wait to be with you. He walks very well on a leash and loves going on adventures. He knows his basic commands and with treats, he can do them with a swiftness. Allman would be the perfect canine companion for someone who loves being active or has a love for and understanding of the Boxer breed. He would do well with a fenced in yard, or multiple walks to get some of the energy down. If you love the Boxer breed, please consider coming to Satchel's Last Resort to say hello to Allman, this beautiful boy could be what you've been looking for all along!
For an appointment to meet Allman, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Looking for a handsome stud muffin with the best smile in town? Well look no further, our buddy Andi is not only easy on the eyes with his white and grey coat but his smile is enough to brighten anyone's day! This fun loving and outgoing boy loves to play and have a good time. He adores having all kinds of toys, though can be a little rough with the stuffed squeaky ones. He is extremely loving and wishes only to spend time with those he loves. When you join his circle, there is no better greeting than from Andi, he always let's you know how much he cares by leg leans, playful jumping and kisses. Andi has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working on his acceptance of new people. He is a big supporter of leisurely strolls and walks very well on leash. He does get distracted a bit, wanting to catch lizards he finds here and there, but listens when it's time to rest. He is an excellent car rider, and with that giant smile and ears flopping in the wind, you can't resist sharing that happiness. This gentle soul does need patience when meeting him the first time or two, since his trust is not so easy to gain. He is protective of the people he cares most about and would do anything for them. He also is not the fondest of other dogs and would prefer to be your main squeeze rather than share. There is so much love in Andi's heart and we here at Satchel's Last Resort would love for you to take the time to also get to know this amazing canine and his brilliant smile!

With a personality as strong as the one he is named after, five-year-old Apollo is a legend all his own. He is full of fiery spirit and is eager to go and do almost everything. He is very handsome and knows just how charming he needs to be to win you over. When out in the yards, he runs all over with a smirk across his face, enticing those around to join the fun. His favorite activity is playing ball, showcasing his speed while proudly bringing the ball back, triumphantly. A close second is going on a nice long walk with some of our volunteers. He is in need of some leash training as he can pull at times, and he loves to play grab the leash when first putting it on. He will sit for treats, which has helped, and has shown he is very treat motivated. Toys are also a fun pasttime, squeakers or a good stuffed Kong with peanut butter keep this guy happy. Apollo can be affectionate, showing it in his own way by leaning up against your legs, and is always prompt for scratches, but is not a fan of full on embracement. He has been making more and more human friends, but is not to happy sharing space with other canine companions. With such a large personality, an experienced owner would be ideal for this exceptional dog. Adventure, excitement and a world of opportunity, Apollo would make a wonderful addition to the right home, come see for yourself at Satchel’s Last Resort!

He loves to be with his people so much, that it doesn't seem that he knows he is a dog. He will need to be an only four-legged child as he does not seem to care for other dogs or cats. He loves the pool and would benefit from an active home. He loves toys and has a very gentle mouth with people. While he has a lot of energy, he is also content to cuddle up and be loved.

* SPECIAL NEEDS - ANXIETY *
Bernie is an interesting little fellow with enough quirks to keep you guessing for a life time. He comes off as very shy but he loves to meet people. When he knows his favorite volunteers are at Satchel's, you can guarantee Bernie will let them know with an excited bark and stretches saying "it's time to go!" Bernie has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and has become a big explorer and the longer the walk, car ride or adventure, the better, though sometimes he doesn't want to come back, and will stop and sit in protest. He adores running and traveling so if you take morning jogs, train for marathons, or travel across country, Bernie would be your perfect partner. He is gentle with his toys, and has no problem sharing his things with you. Bernie loves all life and has only shown adoration or curiosity with whatever comes his way. He is also a BIG time water dog, playing in the pool, splashing in a puddle, or even attempting to cool off in his water bowl, H2O is the way to go! Although not a big boy, Bernie is a fence jumper/climber and can scale a 6 foot fence without hesitation making leaving him alone in a yard for even a few minutes not an option.
Bernie suffers with a severe anxiety disorder. He takes medication for his anxiety but still has panic attacks from time to time. He is looking for a home with a patient, loving family who will be there to help him through the "bad" times. Just 5 years old, with so much love to give, this amazing pup is just waiting for that special person who will keep him feeling safe and loved.
If you think you have the time and patience to give Bernie his forever home, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will set up an appointment for you to meet this special boy.

A pinch of sweetness, a dash of quirky, and a hint love, makes Blaze our special boy. This senior Pittie is guessed to be 9 years old and is looking for a friend to spice his life up a bit. He has an adorable, handsome face that seems a little small for his body, with large bat like ears that make everyone smile. Blaze is both independent and loves good company, so he doesn't mind relaxing by himself, or taking time to sit next to a buddy. He is a perfect gentleman on walks, and has volunteers asking for him all day. He is always ready to go for a trip, whether it's a long leisurely stroll, or a car ride for a new adventure. He has fun with toys, and is a joy to watch when he gets excited, bouncing from side-to-side. He is an excellent listener, and comes back when called, even if he is mid sniff. This boy would make a wonderful partner in a home, and would protect the ones he loves. He would do best with an older crowd, as small children might try and steal a snack or two, which is one thing Blaze likes to keep to himself. He is very respectful but also wants the same in return. If you are looking for a best friend to either kick back with at home or go trail blazing with, then Blaze is the boy for you! For an appointment to meet Blaze, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, satchelslastresort.org/adopt/ and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

** SPECIAL NEEDS - STRANGER DANGER **
Hi, I'm Brittany and I don't much care for strangers. I see all strangers as a potential threat and it takes me quite some time to accept new people into my world. However, once I do I love to spend time with you and have my belly rubbed. I love car rides and will just sleep in the back seat or sit nicely looking out of the window. I don't want to share my food and would prefer you leave me alone while eating. I'm looking for an adopter who understands the need to gain my trust and is willing to visit and wait until the time is right to take me home to spend my retirement.
Brittany is estimated to be approximately 10 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. For an appointment to meet her, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Bruiser arrived in our care with a mass. After having our veterinarian evaluate him, it was decided that the mass needed to be removed. The pathology report did reveal that it was a soft tissue sarcoma, a form of cancer. The margins were clear and we are hopeful that there will be no recurrence.
Strong as an Ox with the heart of gold, Bruiser is a force to be reckoned with. This handsome Rottweiler of nine years young is always ready for an adventure, searching the front gate for a friend that needs some company. He can not wait till the weekends, when his Woof Pack member comes to take him for a nice car ride leading to new places for exploring and new people to meet. Bruiser adores people, greeting them with side hugs or an excited sniff down in hope of a meaty treat. He can put on a show with a rump scratch, which causes his back legs to dance back and forth, and a giant smile to follow. He does have a bit of a jealousy streak in him, and gets upset if another dog is playing with toys, and lets us know it. He will bark at them, telling us he feels left out, resulting in a new toy for him too. Squeaky toys are his absolute favorite, and he has shocked staff here at Satchel’s when getting into play with one, since some make sounds we didn’t think possible. As friendly as this beautiful boy can be, he does not like going to the vet, or having procedures done, and has let us all know personally. He has not shown much interest in other canine companions, but could hopefully make a friend somewhere down the line. Bruiser would be most comfortable in a home with adults that can respect his boundaries. If you are interested in a strong, lovable, unique individual, Bruiser is your guy, and would love to meet you here at Satchel’s Last Resort.
For an appointment to meet Bruiser, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Meet Crystal. What do you see when you look at Crystal? An overbred momma dog? A dog that had a horrible person chop off her ears? A dog that was left inside a crate at an abandoned property? You know what we see? Unconditional love, this girl wants affection and love so badly. She craves to be told she is a good girl, a warm leg to lean on. She is beautiful to us both inside and out. You will see that too when you come meet her and give her a chance. She enjoys a bath and belly rub, hugs and a romp in the yard but her favorite thing to do is hang out with people who love her. Sometimes it will take her a little while to warm up to new people, but the wait is so worth it. She is just a big love bug. She is not fond of other dogs. She can go for walks with them but not exist together in a house or come face to face. She is obsessed with cats so if you are interested in her, you can't have any of those either. She does have cancer (cutaneous hemangiosarcoma). It manifests itself with sores and blood blisters on her stomach and these will pop occasionally and bleed. Eventually the disease will go to her spleen. Her survival can be a few years with this type of cancer by the time it has spread to the spleen. Are you the person to love and provide care for Crystal for her remaining years? If so, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

He can be quite the comedian at times, with his different facial expressions and unwillingness to participate in unwanted activities. He is a fan of toys, but always prefers a friend on the other end. When he is comfortable, Kricket will show a smirking smile, sneak in a few kisses and a happy wagging tail. Meet Ladybug. This adorable little senior girl will come running to greet you at the door. She loves to go for walks on the leash and car rides. She hasn't met a bed that she didn't wanna sleep in, or a bone she didn't wanna chew. Her foster mom puts the bones away and before she knows it, they’re out-again. When it comes time for treats, she'll take them out of your hand very gently. Ladybug gets along well with other small dogs, and everyone she meets loves her. A home with children is not recommended. As her name implies, she’s a lady, but not a pushover. Lady will let you know what she likes and what she doesn't like. Top on her list of dislikes is being picked up, so her belly is off limits when she is standing up. However, if she rolls over, she's all about the belly rubs. She can be a little irritable, so you'll need a little patience. This little Lady is a quiet girl. But she will let out a bark when she wants to tell you something. She loves sitting on the couch but can't jump up. Her foster mom has trained her to step on a stool and then onto the couch. She loves to spend TV time with you. Many times, she'll just stay on the couch the whole night. If you have any specific questions about Lady Bug, please let us know. We want to make sure this sweet girl gets the right forever home. For an appointment to meet Lady Bug, please submit the adoption application found on our website, Adopt — Satchel’s Last Resort (satchelslastresort.org), and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Under her coat of shy and uneasiness is a rare gem indeed, little Miss Lottie. This beautiful young 8-month-old Shepherd mix is by far one of the best pups to come to Satchel's. Every single person she has come in contact with has fallen for her charm and loving nature. She absolutely loves other dogs, and would do best in a home with another canine companion. She is always invited into our puppy play groups, and finds a friend in everyone. She is very outgoing with other dogs, but the same is not said with people. Though she is always very sweet, will give kisses to all, she gets uneasy with people she doesn't know. Staff and volunteers work with her on her social skills, and she is blossoming every day. She is also working on her leash walking skills, basic obedience, and off-site adventures with her Woof Pack leader. She loves to run around the yards, play in the pool, and act like the puppy she is. Lottie is very intelligent, and would love a job to do, she loves pleasing her human friends. She has a powerful nose, and when she is looking for something, she is determined to find it. She loves playing with toys, all kinds, and most stuffed ones make it awhile before she gets puppy energy and says goodbye to them. Our beautiful, sweet LouLou is quite the eye catcher, and her loving demeanor sets her apart. She is a super shy, 3-year-old Old English Bulldog/Basset mix, with eyes that melt the soul. She takes her time when getting to know both people and canine companions, so patience plays a key role in making friends. She gets very excited when it is time to go outside, and enjoys sniffing around the yards. When going for walks, she can get nervous going too far from home base, but with some encouragement and the possibility of a car ride, she puts her best foot forward. Prior to starting pre-heartworm treatment, she was invited into our doggy play groups, did very well, and after a bit of time, opened up and enjoyed herself. Under all her shyness, lies a very happy and playful girl. With those she trusts, she loves to cuddle, and sit close to you. She is very playful, and happy to get new toys, though she plays quite rough with them. LouLou is an amazing, compassionate, one of a kind girl, who is just looking to feel safe and loved, and in return do the same for her new family.

He may not be all hound dog, but our boy Luke is as handsome as they come, and possesses all the qualities of a wonderful family dog. He is a very sweet seven year old, who has made friends with many people, and quite a few canines as well. He is very motivated by food, and is eager to please those he cares about. He loves to be involved in all the action, and when it comes to play groups, he's always happy to be out running around. He enjoys long walks with the volunteers and has been great on the leash, a little overzealous at first, but smooth sailing once the excitement dies down. His nose is his greatest treasure, and it stays to the ground, taking in anything and everything, whether on a walk or in the yards. He wishes to stay close to people, so he prefers company in everything he does, and gets lonely quickly. He can be quite sensitive at night, and does not like to sleep alone, and likes a light on. He has a wonderful time with toys, and keeps them intact longer than many of our other pups. Luke does have some allergies, which have proven to be difficult in the past, but this optimistic boy let's nothing bother him, and lives life to the fullest. In the short time he has been with us, he has shown us that he is a one of a kind gentle soul, that only wants to make his family proud. Need a new friend who will make you laugh and smile daily with his silly antics? Look no further than Porter! Porter is a one year-old male pup who relishes in playtime with toys and balls of all shapes and sizes. Tennis balls are a favorite and he will fetch and return as many balls as you are willing to throw. He also loves soccer balls, Jolly balls and one of his new favorites, a large, rubber marine buoy donated by a volunteer. Porter is definitely a character, too, always carrying his food bowl wherever he goes. Whereas other Satchel’s dogs carefully try to solve enrichment puzzles, Porter prefers to roll around on them and use them to scratch his back. Porter is working with his Woof Pack leader and knows most of his basic commands (Sit, Shake and Down) and is walking nicely on leash. He does seem to be dog selective so a meet and greet with a potential adopter’s dog will be required. Come meet Porter today by filling out an adoption application online at www.satchelslastresort.org (no obligation) and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Just like her name, this gorgeous, plump little sweetheart stuffed with love is Ravioli! Ravioli hasn't had a great start to life, being tied in a horse trailer for a few months before she found her way to Satchel's but this 4-year-old Pittie mix has stolen the hearts of many and will steal many more to come, you simply can't help it. Her greetings come with a waddle, and hand kisses, even more so if you have a treat. She doesn't seemed bothered by most other animals, but has proven she is lady and deserves to be treated as such. She loves to go on car rides, and prefers the princess treatment rather than go too far on foot. She walks very well on leash, but lately has decided cuddle sessions in the shade and belly rubs are needed along the way. In the yards, she likes to just trot around, walking with a friend, and sniffing for something interesting. She adores toys, though her stuffed friends don't last too long. Thanks to one of our volunteers, we recently learned this lovely lady loves the pool. She could not wait to jump in and swim and splash around. Ravioli is such an amazing girl, with charm and humor that surprise us every day and warms all our hearts. She is very loyal, and protects those she holds dear. She would make a wonderful cuddle companion for anyone looking to warm their soul. For an appointment to meet Ravioli, submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, satchelslastresort.org/adopt/, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Single, lonely and searching for the perfect match. Rocket is 5 years young and is recovering from a traumatic past. Sadly, he lost his trust of people but not his love for people. Rocket loves everyone and gets so excited to meet people! He has a fear of “harsh corrections”. Sometimes just the word “no” makes him nervous (he is getting better). He is scared to be “dragged” by his collar but is fine having a leash attached. Rocket is housebroken, crate trained, and very obedient (he seeks to learn more). He loves to run in a back yard and play all along with enjoying neck and belly rubs. Rocket is seeking an adult only understanding home where he will no longer worry and can continue to recover from his past abuse. He longs for the day when he feels safe with someone who loves him while watching TV, chewing his favorite nylabone. He would do best as the only pet in the home.
For an appointment to meet Rocket, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will get back to you.

Ronnie the Rottie is a happy guy that has the cutest wiggly butt. His whole body moves when he wags his nub, greeting everyone with an equal amount of enthusiasm. He was found stray by animal services. Ronnie had some eye issues when he arrived at Satchel's but that is clearing up nicely. He loves walks and butt scratches. Ronnie has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's helping him learn some basic social skills and introducing him to the outside world. We are, at this time, unsure if Ronnie could live in a home with another dog. He seems interested in other dogs, but we have not successfully paired him up with another canine companion. He is not a fan of cats. Ronnie is best suited for an adult-only home.
Ronnie is guessed to be 6 years old and weighs approximately 80 lbs. For an appointment to meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

This happy girl lives up to her name, a sassy personality indeed. Sassafras is a 6-year-old beauty, with a brilliant smile that brightens anyone's day. She is the life of the party and loves to be the center of attention. She can not wait to go outside and either go in the yards and sniff everything possible, or go on a brisk walk, leading the way. Though she can be protective of her space and loyal to her friends, she enjoys meeting new people and has done wonderful with volunteers. She doesn't seem to mind the company of some canines, but we have found her to be selective and she would prefer to have the people all to herself. She adores toys and goes for the stuffed squeaky toys every time. She is very treat motivated, which is helpful in her learning of basic obedience. Curling up in a comfy bed or cuddled up with a friend is the best way to end her day. If you're looking for that missing piece of love in your life, Sassafras could be the perfect dose to fill your heart. For an appointment to meet Sassafras, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

* MEDICAL SPECIAL NEEDS - DISTEMPTER SURVIVOR *
Scarlett is a most precious resident at Satchels, she is adored by all who see her smile. Scarlett had distemper as a puppy which has resulted in life long neurological issues. That means nothing to her, Scarlett is a spunky heartthrob. She’s quirky, loves other animals and people. With her condition she has a special way of communicating and is always up for a chatter. In her previous home we were told she was picked on by the other pups but her she has come out of her shell and she is running with the best of them! A bigger, older puppy would be the perfect playmate for her as she sometimes plays with her mouth. An adult only home would be best for Scarlett since her talking can sometimes be a little rambunctious. She does require help with potty training and needs a home where someone is home most of the time. She hasn’t caught the hang of how to sit or those basics yet, but she will come to you quicker than anyone you know and listens very well to no! Once you see her spinning with joy for you, you won’t want to spend another day without her! Scarlett is 3 years old and weighs approximately 45 lbs. For an appointment to meet her, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Look at that smile on Tonka's face! Tonka is such a happy girl and smiles whenever she sees someone she knows. She isn't fond of initially meeting new people so slow introductions are required but she warms up quickly and once you're in her circle of friends, you'll receive that smile every time she sees you. Her whole face lights up and her bum wiggle starts. You can't help but smile back at her.
Tonka is 10 years old and has spent a good deal of those year at Satchel's. While she can be excitable, she wants nothing more than attention from those she loves. Tonka knows basic commands and walks well on the leash once her initial excitement over the prospect of going for a walk diminishes. She's looking for a quiet retirement home. A home with not a lot of "strangers" coming and going. A home welcoming that smile and her kisses every day. A home with someone to share all her love - she has so much to give. Tonka doesn't care for other dogs and needs to be your only four-legged house companion.
Please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and make an appointment to meet this girl. It may take a couple of visits before she'll be ready to go home with you but she's so worth the time. She'll will win your heart with her giant ears and exuberant personality.

He has been gentle with other canine companions, and has made some new friends in his foster home. He loves to go outside and sniff around, sometimes getting a spur of energy and getting a gallop going. He lives for his afternoon naps which is by far his favorite activity. * SPECIAL NEEDS - SOME STRANGER DANGER *
Look at this handsome boy! Watson is a big boy who just wants to be a dog. He's an interesting dog in that he loves some people at first sight and others not so much so introducing him to strangers can be a little difficult. He would do best in a home with low traffic where he can get to know and trust the people coming through his territory. Watson is strong minded and needs a dog savy person. He likes to sit on your lap and is very affectionate but he doesn't care to be smothered in any way or have people in his face. He likes to play with ropes and chewy toys and sits like a perfect gentleman in the car. This boy is looking for someone to bond with who understands him. Is that you? He'll be your loyal companion for life if you're the one for him.
Watson is guessed to be 8 years old and weighs approximately 70 lbs. For an appointment to meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org.
