Allman
Boxer / Mixed (short coat)
Male
Adult
Allman is the definition of a Boxer, from his looks to his personality traits! This 5-year-old boy is always looking for opportunity to play, and loves making everything a game. He is a great ball player and may not always bring it back, but his enthusiasm keeps the game going. He enjoys carrying toys around wherever he goes, squeaky toys are super fun, but Kong toys are also wonderful. Like most Boxers, he also enjoys Boxing with his people, jumping up and giving a light two paw pounce. He also has a prankster side with shoes and likes to untie your laces when you are walking. He is loyal to his friends here at Satchel's but can be a bit picky. He takes a little time to get to know people and, although he is high energy, he prefers a calm first-time meeting. Allman has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working on his acceptance of new people. Once accepted, Allman is a loving, playful, intelligent boy who can't wait to be with you. He walks very well on a leash and loves going on adventures. He knows his basic commands and with treats, he can do them with a swiftness. Allman would be the perfect canine companion for someone who loves being active or has a love for and understanding of the Boxer breed. He would do well with a fenced in yard, or multiple walks to get some of the energy down. If you love the Boxer breed, please consider coming to Satchel's Last Resort to say hello to Allman, this beautiful boy could be what you've been looking for all along! For an appointment to meet Allman, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Looking for a handsome stud muffin with the best smile in town? Well look no further, our buddy Andi is not only easy on the eyes with his white and grey coat but his smile is enough to brighten anyone's day! This fun loving and outgoing boy loves to play and have a good time. He adores having all kinds of toys, though can be a little rough with the stuffed squeaky ones. He is extremely loving and wishes only to spend time with those he loves. When you join his circle, there is no better greeting than from Andi, he always let's you know how much he cares by leg leans, playful jumping and kisses. Andi has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working on his acceptance of new people. He is a big supporter of leisurely strolls and walks very well on leash. He does get distracted a bit, wanting to catch lizards he finds here and there, but listens when it's time to rest. He is an excellent car rider, and with that giant smile and ears flopping in the wind, you can't resist sharing that happiness. This gentle soul does need patience when meeting him the first time or two, since his trust is not so easy to gain. He is protective of the people he cares most about and would do anything for them. He also is not the fondest of other dogs and would prefer to be your main squeeze rather than share. There is so much love in Andi's heart and we here at Satchel's Last Resort would love for you to take the time to also get to know this amazing canine and his brilliant smile! For an appointment to meet Andi, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

With a personality as strong as the one he is named after, five-year-old Apollo is a legend all his own. He is full of fiery spirit and is eager to go and do almost everything. He is very handsome and knows just how charming he needs to be to win you over. When out in the yards, he runs all over with a smirk across his face, enticing those around to join the fun. His favorite activity is playing ball, showcasing his speed while proudly bringing the ball back, triumphantly. A close second is going on a nice long walk with some of our volunteers. He is in need of some leash training as he can pull at times, and he loves to play grab the leash when first putting it on. He will sit for treats, which has helped, and has shown he is very treat motivated. Toys are also a fun pasttime, squeakers or a good stuffed Kong with peanut butter keep this guy happy. Apollo can be affectionate, showing it in his own way by leaning up against your legs, and is always prompt for scratches, but is not a fan of full on embracement. He has been making more and more human friends, but is not to happy sharing space with other canine companions. With such a large personality, an experienced owner would be ideal for this exceptional dog. Adventure, excitement and a world of opportunity, Apollo would make a wonderful addition to the right home, come see for yourself at Satchel’s Last Resort! Are you are looking for a muscle-bound man with a sensitive side or a "bro" to go jogging with? Let me introduce you to Attila. This charming boy knows his basic commands. Attila has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working with his leash skills as he is currently a bit of a puller. He loves to be with his people so much, that it doesn't seem that he knows he is a dog. He will need to be an only four-legged child as he does not seem to care for other dogs or cats. He loves the pool and would benefit from an active home. He loves toys and has a very gentle mouth with people. While he has a lot of energy, he is also content to cuddle up and be loved. Bayley is an adorable, doe eyed, sweetheart, with a beautiful red coat and a personality you can't help but fall for. She is around 4 years old and weighs approximately 35 pounds of get up and go. This little girl loves to go on walks with our volunteers and takes to the trails with gusto. She makes for a wonderful adventurer, she can't wait to get in the car and loves to visit new spots. She can be a tad bit shy when she first meets a new person, but a quick sniff and her tail wags with glee. She was invited to play group, and though she was uncertain at first, she soon showed her courage and said hello to the other pups. Unfortunately she did not show the same enthusiasm when meeting cats and would need a cat-free home. She has an endearing quirk where she goes to jump up to greet you but stops and hangs in the middle, gently putting her paws on your legs almost in pray pose. She is always happy to sit in your lap or cuddle up next to you. This charming young lady would make a wonderful best friend and a great addition to a loving home. For an appointment to meet Bayley, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

* SPECIAL NEEDS - ANXIETY * Bernie is an interesting little fellow with enough quirks to keep you guessing for a life time. He comes off as very shy but he loves to meet people. When he knows his favorite volunteers are at Satchel's, you can guarantee Bernie will let them know with an excited bark and stretches saying "it's time to go!" Bernie has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and has become a big explorer and the longer the walk, car ride or adventure, the better, though sometimes he doesn't want to come back, and will stop and sit in protest. He adores running and traveling so if you take morning jogs, train for marathons, or travel across country, Bernie would be your perfect partner. He is gentle with his toys, and has no problem sharing his things with you. Bernie loves all life and has only shown adoration or curiosity with whatever comes his way. He is also a BIG time water dog, playing in the pool, splashing in a puddle, or even attempting to cool off in his water bowl, H2O is the way to go! Although not a big boy, Bernie is a fence jumper/climber and can scale a 6 foot fence without hesitation making leaving him alone in a yard for even a few minutes not an option. Bernie suffers with a severe anxiety disorder. He takes medication for his anxiety but still has panic attacks from time to time. He is looking for a home with a patient, loving family who will be there to help him through the "bad" times. Just 5 years old, with so much love to give, this amazing pup is just waiting for that special person who will keep him feeling safe and loved. If you think you have the time and patience to give Bernie his forever home, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will set up an appointment for you to meet this special boy.

** SPECIAL NEEDS - STRANGER DANGER ** Hi, I'm Brittany and I don't much care for strangers. I see all strangers as a potential threat and it takes me quite some time to accept new people into my world. However, once I do I love to spend time with you and have my belly rubbed. I love car rides and will just sleep in the back seat or sit nicely looking out of the window. I don't want to share my food and would prefer you leave me alone while eating. I'm looking for an adopter who understands the need to gain my trust and is willing to visit and wait until the time is right to take me home to spend my retirement. Brittany is estimated to be approximately 10 years old and weighs around 60 lbs. Bruiser
Rottweiler (short coat)

Bruiser arrived in our care with a mass. After having our veterinarian evaluate him, it was decided that the mass needed to be removed. The pathology report did reveal that it was a soft tissue sarcoma, a form of cancer. The margins were clear and we are hopeful that there will be no recurrence. Strong as an Ox with the heart of gold, Bruiser is a force to be reckoned with. This handsome Rottweiler of nine years young is always ready for an adventure, searching the front gate for a friend that needs some company. He can not wait till the weekends, when his Woof Pack member comes to take him for a nice car ride leading to new places for exploring and new people to meet. Bruiser adores people, greeting them with side hugs or an excited sniff down in hope of a meaty treat. He can put on a show with a rump scratch, which causes his back legs to dance back and forth, and a giant smile to follow. He does have a bit of a jealousy streak in him, and gets upset if another dog is playing with toys, and lets us know it. He will bark at them, telling us he feels left out, resulting in a new toy for him too. Squeaky toys are his absolute favorite, and he has shocked staff here at Satchel’s when getting into play with one, since some make sounds we didn’t think possible. As friendly as this beautiful boy can be, he does not like going to the vet, or having procedures done, and has let us all know personally. He has not shown much interest in other canine companions, but could hopefully make a friend somewhere down the line. Bruiser would be most comfortable in a home with adults that can respect his boundaries. If you are interested in a strong, lovable, unique individual, Bruiser is your guy, and would love to meet you here at Satchel’s Last Resort. For an appointment to meet Bruiser, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Eight-year old Cesar is more like a spud than a salad. His daily routine is more focused around relaxation practices in the “couch potato” position than anything. He’s got the personality of a surfer, everything is just chill and he likes a slow paced life. He’s the type of guy who doesn’t kiss until the second date. As any good man, Cesar will let you know when someone’s at the door, when it’s time for dinner and when it’s time for bed. You don’t have to worry about spending too much money on toys for him, he’d rather just spend time with you, getting comfort from his people is the best. Cesar has lived with dogs in the past.  Meet Chewie! Chewie is a sweet, sensitive 2 year-old boy who joined our Satchel’s family when his family could no longer care for him. Such a gentle soul but social. As a puppy growing up during the Covid-19 lockdown, Chewie had a lot to learn about the world around him and our staff and volunteers eagerly began socializing him with walks and car rides. As a strong puller and energetic dog, Chewie really enjoys long walks and is working on exploring as many county parks as possible with his Woof Pack Leader. He loves to sit in the front passenger seat in the car watching the world go by or to stretch out in the back seat with a favorite squeaky toy. Chewie can be a little shy meeting people at first but once he knows you, he is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. Chewie previously lived in a household with another dog, a cat and two children ages 10 and 14.  If you would like to meet Chewie, please fill out an adoption application (no obligation) at www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Cowboy is a real little gentleman when you're in with him, wanting to say good morning as soon as he catches sight of you at the shelter. He would be so happy to say "good morning" to his own person every day in his very own home. It takes Cowboy a little time to warm up to new people but once he knows you, he gives the sweetest little kisses and cuddles. Cowboy has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and is taking adventures outside of Satchel's, to the home amongst other places, and meeting new people. He loves getting out and running in the yard and then waiting for some belly rubs when yard time is over. He loves his toys and is neat and tidy in his kennel. He seems to enjoy the company of other dogs. This boy has spent so many years in a kennel environment and as he starts his senior years, he would love to find his very own adult-only home. * Medical Special Needs * Meet Crystal. What do you see when you look at Crystal? An overbred momma dog? A dog that had a horrible person chop off her ears? A dog that was left inside a crate at an abandoned property? You know what we see? Unconditional love, this girl wants affection and love so badly. She craves to be told she is a good girl, a warm leg to lean on. She is beautiful to us both inside and out. You will see that too when you come meet her and give her a chance. She enjoys a bath and belly rub, hugs and a romp in the yard but her favorite thing to do is hang out with people who love her. Sometimes it will take her a little while to warm up to new people, but the wait is so worth it. She is just a big love bug. She is not fond of other dogs. She can go for walks with them but not exist together in a house or come face to face. She is obsessed with cats so if you are interested in her, you can't have any of those either. She does have cancer (cutaneous hemangiosarcoma). It manifests itself with sores and blood blisters on her stomach and these will pop occasionally and bleed. Eventually the disease will go to her spleen. Her survival can be a few years with this type of cancer by the time it has spread to the spleen. Are you the person to love and provide care for Crystal for her remaining years? If so, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

*MEDICAL SPECIAL NEEDS* Meet the awe-inspiring, 4-year-old Delhi.  Delhi's body may be disabled but her spirit is fully intact. You can't help but to smile when you see this spunky girl zooming around in her wheelchair. She is an adventurer and an athlete who loves to go with her people. In her mind she is a race car driver but in reality she is your typical Florida driver who curbs it at every turn.    Delhi is the very definition of a velcro dog. She picks her person and she doesn't want them far from her sight. She loves intensely and beams with excitement when you return from the shortest absence. You can never be lonely or feel unloved with Delhi by your side.    She likes other dogs but she doesn't like quick front end greetings. She can be a little defensive on first greeting especially when out of her cart. She is not quick to play with another dog but with time she does enjoy the company of other dogs. She doesn't seem to be bothered by cats.    Delhi came to Satchel's after her former owner passed away. Family members of the deceased had little information on Delhi. Our vet believes that she had a spinal injury causing her paralysis. At this time, they do not believe that her condition is progressive. She does have some reflexes in her back end and can wag her tail. She will occasionally get her legs underneath her momentarily but can not take steps. We do exercises with her to help to strengthen her back end. While her care is easy to learn, she does require bladder expression.  For an appointment to meet Delhi, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

A gentle giant (weighing in at 152 lbs), so big he has everyone's attention and all affection gravitates to him. Six-year-old Diamond Jim is a rare beauty indeed, with a pure heart and laid back personality. He may look a little intimidating with his size, but this big guy is only looking to make friends and hang out. He sets the pace on his walks which is more like a pleasant stroll, breaking in the grass if the spot is right. In the yards he checks out the perimeter, slowly making a round, and checking in with you every once in a good sniff. When choosing a toy, the smaller plush toys seem to be his favorite which is comical compared to his largeness, and he loves to try to throw them, only to bring them to you to share. He has been introduced to a few of our other canine buddies and has enjoyed spending time amongst friends. Oddly, Diamond Jim is not a huge treat or food guy, and using either for motivation has been a hit or miss. His favorite treat so far has been Beggin strips. If you are looking for someone to lounge around with and be smothered in both drooly kisses and love, Diamond Jim is your guy! Diamond Jim is currently on medication twice daily for hypothyroidism which he may need to continue for life. For an appointment to meet Diamond Jim, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

A shy and cautious boy, our handsome Kricket is learning to explore the world again one paw at a time. He may come up to you with worried eyes, but with a bit of encouragement and possibly a tasty treat, becomes a friend quickly. He has been meeting new people almost every day, going on walks or spending some one-on-one time in the yards. He is a wonderful walker and great on the leash, though if spooked, tends to pull back to home base. He has done pretty well with some canine buddies, and prefers a calmer friend to spend time with. He can be quite the comedian at times, with his different facial expressions and unwillingness to participate in unwanted activities. He is a fan of toys, but always prefers a friend on the other end. When he is comfortable, Kricket will show a smirking smile, sneak in a few kisses and a happy wagging tail. He is a very sweet boy underneath that spotty coat of his, and with patience and encouragement will be able to expand his horizons. If you are looking for a friend to share new experiences with, but still like a cozy day in, Kricket would love to meet you! Determined, lively, with a giant personality, our little Lady Bug is truly a one of a kind. She is a Chihuahua/Pug mix and is ten years young. Her looks are quite unique and she has what we refer to as a "fawn" tail, something we have yet to come across. She loves to be on the move and goes from a brisk walk to a small gallop when out on an adventure with volunteers. When in the yards, this little one travels everywhere, sniffing everything she can, and leaping through tall grass. She is always excited to meet a new person, and walks up to everyone as if they have been old friends. She adores car rides, and will try to get in anyone's vehicle given the chance. She has also went on walks side by side with some of our other smaller residents here at Satchel's and has done well. She is not overly excited when it comes to toys, she might play with a small soft toy here and there, but prefers a soft bed after outside time. She surprisingly is not all about treats either, and can also be pretty picky with meal time, though she is quite stocky, with little legs. She is very independent and while she likes her cuddle time, she is not a fan of being picked up or made to do something if she doesn't want to. Lady Bug has been diagnosed with heartworm disease and is undergoing medical monitoring to determine if she is currently strong enough to start heartworm treatment. We are looking for a temporary foster home or a foster-to-adopt home while she receives her medical care. If you are interested in taking this little gem into your home, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch to set up a meet and greet.

Love those ears! If you're looking for a senior girl (11 years old) who wants nothing more than to hang out with you all day, Loca just may be the girl for you! Her foster parents call Loca their Velcro girl. She came to Satchel's crate trained, staying in the crate while mom worked all day. No crate is needed in the foster home. When mom and dad leave her for a few hours, she is free to roam in the home and nothing is touched. When they return home, she finds one of her strong chew toys or ropes and greets them by doing some zoomies. Loca loves car rides and would be happy to run daily errands with you. Want to do some TV binge watching? No worries, Loca will sleep for hours beside you. Sunning herself on the lanai while you enjoy your morning coffee outside makes for a happy girl. Loca knows basic commands and listens well. She is a little uncertain when meeting new people but a treat always does the trick. Although Loca has lived with dogs in the past, she is looking to be your only four-legged love please. She's really quite perfect for someone looking for a loyal companion.   This girl is truly a lover, often giving you a kiss just to say hi. Whatdoyousay? Do you think Loca may be the girl for you? Meet Millie. After being trapped to catch by Sarasota County Animal Services, Millie found herself a terrified little girl who spent her time huddled in the corner of the kennel. SCAS reached out to Satchel's to see if she would be a candidate for our Rescue Rehab Rehome program knowing we give our animals all the time they need to learn to trust. Millie has been with us for several months working with her Woof Pack leader Judy. Her progress is slow but she is starting to enjoy the time out of her kennel with Judy. She will now let Judy give her belly rubs and will walk to the end of our long driveway. Millie is looking for a quiet home with few people coming and going. She could possibly benefit from a canine companion to make her feel more comfortable. Judy will continue to work with Millie, giving her all the time she needs but if you feel you have the time and patience to help this young girl learn to trust again, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will set up an appointment for you to meet her. Thanks to our caring staff and volunteers, she is now able to live her life again, without constant fear of being abandoned or mistreated. Peppy has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's helping her learn some basic social skills and introducing her to the outside world. She would do best in an adult only home and does appear to get along with other dogs. Peppy has recurring ear infections and needs a visit to the vet every few months months to have them cleaned under sedation as she doesn't like anyone messing with her ears. Peppy is estimated to be 9 years old and weighs approximately 50 lbs. If you're interested in giving Peppy her retirement home, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch to set up an appointment for you to meet her.

Need a new friend who will make you laugh and smile daily with his silly antics? Look no further than Porter! Porter is a one year-old male pup who relishes in playtime with toys and balls of all shapes and sizes. Tennis balls are a favorite and he will fetch and return as many balls as you are willing to throw. He also loves soccer balls, Jolly balls and one of his new favorites, a large, rubber marine buoy donated by a volunteer. Porter is definitely a character, too, always carrying his food bowl wherever he goes. Whereas other Satchel’s dogs carefully try to solve enrichment puzzles, Porter prefers to roll around on them and use them to scratch his back. Porter is working with his Woof Pack leader and knows most of his basic commands (Sit, Shake and Down) and is walking nicely on leash. He does seem to be dog selective so a meet and greet with a potential adopter’s dog will be required. Come meet Porter today by filling out an adoption application online at www.satchelslastresort.org (no obligation) and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Single, lonely and searching for the perfect match. Rocket is 5 years young and is recovering from a traumatic past. Sadly, he lost his trust of people but not his love for people. Rocket loves everyone and gets so excited to meet people! He has a fear of “harsh corrections”. Sometimes just the word “no” makes him nervous (he is getting better). He is scared to be “dragged” by his collar but is fine having a leash attached. Rocket is housebroken, crate trained, and very obedient (he seeks to learn more). He loves to run in a back yard and play all along with enjoying neck and belly rubs. Rocket is seeking an adult only understanding home where he will no longer worry and can continue to recover from his past abuse. He longs for the day when he feels safe with someone who loves him while watching TV, chewing his favorite nylabone. He would do best as the only pet in the home. For an appointment to meet Rocket, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will get back to you.

Ronnie the Rottie is a happy guy that has the cutest wiggly butt. His whole body moves when he wags his nub, greeting everyone with an equal amount of enthusiasm. He was found stray by animal services. Ronnie had some eye issues when he arrived at Satchel's but that is clearing up nicely. He loves walks and butt scratches. Ronnie has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's helping him learn some basic social skills and introducing him to the outside world. We are, at this time, unsure if Ronnie could live in a home with another dog. He seems interested in other dogs, but we have not successfully paired him up with another canine companion. He is not a fan of cats. Ronnie is best suited for an adult-only home. Ronnie is guessed to be 6 years old and weighs approximately 80 lbs. For an appointment to meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

This happy girl lives up to her name, a sassy personality indeed. Sassafras is a 6-year-old beauty, with a brilliant smile that brightens anyone's day. She is the life of the party and loves to be the center of attention. She can not wait to go outside and either go in the yards and sniff everything possible, or go on a brisk walk, leading the way. Though she can be protective of her space and loyal to her friends, she enjoys meeting new people and has done wonderful with volunteers. She doesn't seem to mind the company of some canines, but we have found her to be selective and she would prefer to have the people all to herself. She adores toys and goes for the stuffed squeaky toys every time. She is very treat motivated, which is helpful in her learning of basic obedience. Curling up in a comfy bed or cuddled up with a friend is the best way to end her day. If you're looking for that missing piece of love in your life, Sassafras could be the perfect dose to fill your heart. For an appointment to meet Sassafras, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

* MEDICAL SPECIAL NEEDS - DISTEMPTER SURVIVOR * Scarlett is a most precious resident at Satchels, she is adored by all who see her smile. Scarlett had distemper as a puppy which has resulted in life long neurological issues. That means nothing to her, Scarlett is a spunky heartthrob. She’s quirky, loves other animals and people. With her condition she has a special way of communicating and is always up for a chatter. In her previous home we were told she was picked on by the other pups but her she has come out of her shell and she is running with the best of them! A bigger, older puppy would be the perfect playmate for her as she sometimes plays with her mouth. An adult only home would be best for Scarlett since her talking can sometimes be a little rambunctious. She does require help with potty training and needs a home where someone is home most of the time. She hasn’t caught the hang of how to sit or those basics yet, but she will come to you quicker than anyone you know and listens very well to no! Once you see her spinning with joy for you, you won’t want to spend another day without her! Scarlett is 3 years old and weighs approximately 45 lbs. For an appointment to meet her, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Look at that smile on Tonka's face! Tonka is such a happy girl and smiles whenever she sees someone she knows. She isn't fond of initially meeting new people so slow introductions are required but she warms up quickly and once you're in her circle of friends, you'll receive that smile every time she sees you. Her whole face lights up and her bum wiggle starts. You can't help but smile back at her. Tonka is 10 years old and has spent a good deal of those year at Satchel's. While she can be excitable, she wants nothing more than attention from those she loves. Tonka knows basic commands and walks well on the leash once her initial excitement over the prospect of going for a walk diminishes. She's looking for a quiet retirement home. A home with not a lot of "strangers" coming and going. A home welcoming that smile and her kisses every day. A home with someone to share all her love - she has so much to give. Tonka doesn't care for other dogs and needs to be your only four-legged house companion. Please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and make an appointment to meet this girl. It may take a couple of visits before she'll be ready to go home with you but she's so worth the time. She'll will win your heart with her giant ears and exuberant personality.

Rambunctious, full of life, and even a bit of a trickster, our outgoing boy Tucker is a whirlwind of energy. He is very ambitious, and has done both obedience training and agility training. He works with a few of our volunteers, and has a special bond with his Woof pack leader. Once he trusts you, Tucker is a very fun and friendly guy. Four year old Tucker is incredibly smart and once the initial excitement from getting to go out is done, takes directions very well. He’s super trainable, energetic and affectionate. Tucker loves car rides, long walks, getting in the water, training, playing and licking faces. He can not wait to go for a car ride and at least twice a week has been going out to local parks and exploring new areas. He walks very well when he has his harness on and long walks are welcomed. After spending time outside in the Florida heat, Tucker loves to jump in the pool to cool off or even just a nice spray down with the hose. Tucker has also been intrigued by other canine buddies, and has had a female yard buddy that shared his enthusiasm for play. When the day is done and it’s time to relax, he loves curling up on a blanket. Tucker is a big believer in play time, but is very stingy with his toys, treats and food. He has shown a protective nature with these things particularly and needs patience and reassurance that his precious things will continue to be his. It is because of his resource guarding that we encourage a more seasoned dog owner for this extroverted boy, with an active life style and a fenced in yard for him to run around in. While Tucker is an absolutely amazing boy, he still has some training to go in order to be the greatest he can be. The right person for Tucker would need to work with him on his resource guarding of food and toys, and his mistrust of some strangers. Tucker comes with a complimentary 6 week group training class and 2 hours of private training lessons from SarasotaDog.Net. If you are looking for a challenge that will create a life long bond, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and make an appointment to meet our friend Tucker.

This is Turtle, estimated to be approximately 2 years old and weighing around 35 lbs. She was found, and taken in temporarily by a good samaritan, in the nearby Sleeping Turtle Preserve, amongst the many tortoise holes, and the name stuck! Turtle is a sweet, loving, playful girl who aims to please. She has proven to be good with dogs but may need the right introduction if a new situation presents. Turtle listens to commands off leash, is familiar with livestock such as cows, goats and pigs, and from what we’ve seen, is great with kids! She loves her crate, her Kong balls with the occasional floppy game of fetch, her bones and cuddles. This girl is looking for a family who can give her the love and attention she deserves. She has the kindest eyes, with the sweetest head tilt, and tiny, wiggly body. Will you be her family? For an appointment to meet Turtle, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

He has been gentle with other canine companions, and has made some new friends in his foster home. He loves to go outside and sniff around, sometimes getting a spur of energy and getting a gallop going. He lives for his afternoon naps which is by far his favorite activity. When taking treats, he tends to gum your fingers playfully, with a mischievous look in his eyes. His mellow demeanor mixed with his happy go lucky attitude makes for the perfect senior companion. He has gained the nickname, Flawless Wallace, and we consider ourselves lucky to have such a wonderful young man. Come meet this hunk of burning love, he will surely steel your heart. * SPECIAL NEEDS - SOME STRANGER DANGER * Look at this handsome boy! Watson is a big boy who just wants to be a dog. He's an interesting dog in that he loves some people at first sight and others not so much so introducing him to strangers can be a little difficult. He would do best in a home with low traffic where he can get to know and trust the people coming through his territory. Watson is strong minded and needs a dog savy person. He likes to sit on your lap and is very affectionate but he doesn't care to be smothered in any way or have people in his face. He likes to play with ropes and chewy toys and sits like a perfect gentleman in the car. This boy is looking for someone to bond with who understands him. Is that you? He'll be your loyal companion for life if you're the one for him. Watson is guessed to be 8 years old and weighs approximately 70 lbs.
