June had us again thankful to The Community Foundation of Sarasota County for the generous grant awarded from the Animal Welfare Grant program with funding provided by the Helen C. Schwieder Fund in support of our veterinary care for rescued animals. We were able to continue to provide heartworm and tick/flea preventation for the approximately 100 dogs and cats in our care as well as provide the animals with on-going medications as needed. Two of our older cats in our open cat room received dentals and another received senior bloodwork and lab tests to ensure everything was working as it should be. We took in 4 new kitties – Baby, Amazing Grace, Charlie and Onyx (FIV positive), and several new dogs – Tobie, Monte, Keylow, Jazzy, Handsome, Jimbo and Jaxy. One of our senior dogs had a growth removal, another had a dental and a couple had senior bloodwork and lab tests conducted.
