The Road Home!

With a kind and generous donation from Wendy Thursby Herche and David Herche, we’re beginning The Road Home.

As Southwest Florida’s only true no-kill animal shelter and sanctuary, Satchel’s has dedicated the last 20 years to turning sob stories into success stories and lost causes into beloved family members with our Rescue, Rehab and Rehome program.

We take in and care for dogs and cats with nowhere else to go and we are steadfast in our efforts to give every one of them the best possible life while we work on their behavior issues or while they’re recovering from medical procedures. To help with that, we are adding another large play yard with 8 ft fencing for the dogs’ safety and security and a shaded walking path so volunteers can walk them on property.

These two things will get more dogs outside with staff and volunteers for longer periods of time and will do so much for their wellbeing. A healthy, happy dog is an adoptable dog.
