Delhi’s body may be disabled but her spirit is fully intact. You can’t help but to smile when you see this spunky girl zooming around in her wheelchair. She is an adventurer and an athlete who loves to go with her people. In her mind she is a race car driver but in reality she is your typical Florida driver who curbs it at every turn.
Delhi is the very definition of a velcro dog. She picks her person and she doesn’t want them far from her sight. She loves intensely and beams with excitement when you return from the shortest absence. You can never be lonely or feel unloved with Delhi by your side.
She likes other dogs but she doesn’t like quick front end greetings. She can be a little defensive on first greeting especially when out of her cart. She is not quick to play with another dog but with time she does enjoy the company of other dogs. She doesn’t seem to be bothered by cats.
Delhi came to Satchel’s after her former owner passed away. Family members of the deceased had little information on Delhi. Our vet believes that she had a spinal injury causing her paralysis. At this time, they do not believe that her condition is progressive. She does have some reflexes in her back end and can wag her tail. She will occasionally get her legs underneath her momentarily but can not take steps. We do exercises with her to help to strengthen her back end. While her care is easy to learn, she does require bladder expression.
for an appointment to meet Delhi, please submit the adoption application (no commitmet) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.
