Just look at this adorable baby! Two weeks ago this little sweetie was taken to the Humane Society of Manatee County medical clinic in serious pain. He had injuries consistent with being hit by a car. Unfortunately, his owner had to decline medical treatment due to lack of funds. After some discussion with the family, it would seem that funds were not available for even basic care of vaccines, heartworm preventative, neutering, etc., and everyone agreed surrendering Jessie was the best course of action for this young boy. So off to Manatee County Animal Services he went. MCAS reached out to Satchel’s with a plea to take him on and provide immediate medical care. Jessie is just 6 months old and has his whole life ahead of him, so saying no wasn’t an option for Satchel’s. At Beach Veterinary Clinic, it was determined that he needed Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) surgery. FHO surgery is expensive but this happy little guy had to be fixed up so he could live a long, normal, happy, pain-free life. Thanks to all the collaborators in the community – HSMC, MCAS, Satchels, Beach Vet – Jessie is now recovering in a foster home. Small, young dogs typically recover quickly from this surgery and Jessie should be available for adoption in 30-45 days. We are now reaching out further into the community by asking you to donate towards Jessie’s surgery, so we are able to continue to Rescue.Rehab.Rehome. If not for supporters like you all, animals like Jessie, would have no chance to survive. Thank you!
