Happy Landings for Penelope (now known as Nellie)! Adoption follow up.
Angie and her family had lost their elderly Pug Daisy a few years ago and were looking for a senior or special needs dog as a companion for Vinny their other Frenchie. When Angie read Penelope’s story and saw her precious photo, she knew they wanted to meet her. Angie and her husband Jess live in Nashville, but Angie was visiting Florida and was able to meet up with Penelope at her foster mom’s home and fell in love. Angie understood that it would be a challenge as Penelope had been born with Spina Bifida and was completely incontinent and would require diapers and managed care for her entire life, but that didn’t change her mind. Now known as Nellie, she is getting along great with her canine sibling Vinny and living her dream life on 12 acres. When Nellie saw the beautiful property spread out before her, she took off with delight. Nellie often wears socks to keep her paws safe as they drag and although she was sent home with a wheelchair, she has yet to need it. Angie said they were told that Nellie would not be able to learn to sit but Angie told Nellie that she could learn and of course she did. Nellie’s new diet suggested by their vet has made a big difference in the amount of diaper changes needed throughout the day and Angie says they have seen incredible positive changes in her life. Nellie also thoroughly enjoys riding with Angie on her tricycle when they are in Florida and it’s a great way to give her paws a break and get some fresh air. This adoption was truly a wonderful match and was destined to be as it turns out that Nellie’s birthday is February 15, the same date that Daisy, their beloved Pug passed away.
A very lucky Nellie to have found her forever home with Angie, Jess and Vinny!
Thank you also to foster mom, Cheyenne, who gave this sweet girl the love and care she deserved before her forever person found her.
