The Stars Aligned for Red and Dee Dee

The stars aligned this past weekend. Fifteen years ago, two (2) very young, feral cats were rescued by our founders, Page and Michael, from hiding out in a garage in Chicago. Driven back to Florida, they started a new life here at Satchel’s. It didn’t take long for Dee Dee and Red to become happy, healthy, friendly cats looking for their forever homes. They weren’t bonded so a home together was not needed. However, as time went on, it seemed finding their loving homes was just not going to happen for them. Life in the open cat room was good, but we continued to hold out hope that one day, these babies would be in homes, being loved on by their special people every day. Early last week, Samantha and Jeremy visited our cat room and immediately fell in love with Red. Red has some litter box issues but it didn’t matter to Samantha and Jeremy, they knew Red was the kitty to join their family, which included 4 canines. The next day, Suzanne came by looking for a companion for her cat, and it was love at first site with Dee Dee. Dee Dee’s bloodwork showed high kidney levels, but that didn’t deter Suzanne – Dee Dee was the one for her. Friday and Saturday, Red and Dee – King and Queen of the open cat room – said goodbye to their friends and left the building to start the final chapter of their life.
