Quite the playful pup, Dex has a favorite toy that is certain to be packed with his belongings when his adoption papers are finalized and he heads home with you for the second chance that the staff and volunteers at Satchel’s Last Resort told him was in his future.
In the feature article that begins on page 34, you’ll find out more about the pup’s back story while also taking a close-up look at the 23-year history of the no-kill shelter and sanctuary that took Dex in with a mission-based promise to keep him safe and content until his new family or human companion is found.
You’ll also discover how Satchel’s is addressing a regional and national crisis in the animal shelter community, the innovative approach the staff and volunteers are taking to increase adoptability of the dogs at the shelter/sanctuary and the current and upcoming plans for renovations and new programs now in development to improve the quality of life for all the homeless or abandoned dogs and cats that have found their way to Satchel’s 12 acres of property.
