Our followers will remember Ben from Satchel’s Giving Day. Ben, an older, slightly droopy Boerboel developed a very large tumor on his neck – rendering him useless to his breeder. She dropped him at a county shelter as a stray, but Ben was microchipped so her story fell apart and Ben became a “no-hold time required” owner give-up.
Luckily, the county shelter called Satchel’s. We are always at capacity, but just that morning one of our dogs had gone to his furever home, so we said yes.
We fully vetted Ben having the mass on his neck removed and biopsied. The biopsy came back benign – fantastic! But not so fast…
A few days later Ben’s stomach flipped. The attention and fast thinking of our shelter staff enabled us to get Ben to an emergency clinic in time to save his life. Ben is now in his forever home with a loving family, sharing his love with adults, older children and canine siblings. Ben is one happy camper, so thankful to be alive. Thank you all who helped save Ben’s life with your donations to Satchel’s Giving Day.
