Thank you for being an important part of what we do everyday. Animal services recently reached out to Satchel’s regarding a cruelty case involving three little dogs named Lilee, Daisee, and Chio. The case is still under investigation, so we can not discuss the circumstances of how the incident occurred, however all three dogs required intense medical care as a result of their injuries. The dogs all sustained lacerations to their feet and bellies. They were unable to walk due to the pain and required daily wound care. Lilee suffered a broken pelvis requiring surgical repair and a hernia from the traumatic event.
All three are now recovering nicely and will soon be available for adoption and a second chance at a home that will treat them the way that they deserve to be treated.
County shelters don’t have the funding or the time to handle these types of medical emergencies. We do – because of you. Whether you’ve signed up to take an armchair vacation or you simply donate to our medical fund, Lilee, Daisee, Chio and all the animals we serve are extremely grateful.
There really was a Satchel (pictured below). He was trained but hid it extremely well when tempted. Rolling in dead fish on Chicago’s Lakefront was his nirvana and he’d share his smelly happiness with every person he’d meet on the way back home. He loved every minute of life as he lived it – and that changed the way I live mine. Satchel would be 34 this weekend.
Please come celebrate his birthday and Satchel’s Last Resort with us on September 9th from 6-10 pm at Big Top Brewing Co, 975 Cattlemen Road.
Admission to this fun party is free and you’ll enjoy Origins Pizza, Clean Plate Club and Carousel Creamery Food Trucks, The Kara Nally Band, a Big Raffle and Wristbands for $1-off beers! All proceeds from the party go to support our medical fund.
Best of all, your Armchair Vacation photos will be projected on the big screen!!
Can’t attend the party but would like to support Satchel’s medical fund, please donate at https://satchelslastresort.networkforgood.com/…/90180… and write “SGD” in the note section.
