Satchel’s has seen an astonishing 300% rise in surrender applications since 2021, and our surrender committee team knew we had to look for solutions to help families keep their pets. Over the past eleven months, Satchel’s has invited surrender applicants the opportunity to attend monthly muzzle training and one-on-one sessions with our trainer, Rafael Fontan “RafStarK9″, at no charge to them. Families are given the tools and training support they need to work through their dog-dog or dog-human dynamics for as many months as needed. Our first year of Satchel’s Muzzle Outreach Program has been a huge success with 85% of participating dogs still residing in their homes and not in a shelter! We look forward to offering the benefits of the Muzzle Outreach Program to a wider population.
