LEGO UPDATE LAST NIGHT.
She had her blood transfusion, the feeding tube is out and she’s eating on her own. She will need to be monitored at the ER for a while yet to make sure she continues to eat. Thank you everyone who has donated towards her care.
So many supporters honored Betty White’s memory yesterday on what would have been her 100th birthday. What an amazing life Betty lived and how she must be smiling down knowing her love for animals shone through yesterday and will continue. We are so appreciative of everyone who chose Satchel’s.
While these donations were coming in, our Lego was fighting for her life at an emergency clinic. Lego was surrendered in November when her family could no longer care for her. She is a bit of a feisty girl and while she sometimes seeks attention, she does not particularly like the company of other cats. This is a problem when you live in a community/group cat room. Our spicy little girl is now fighting for her life. She has gone into hepatic lipidosis which is one of the most common liver diseases in felines. It begins when a cat does not eat for several days. We are unsure why Miss Lego decided not to eat. It could have been stress – “I didn’t like the menu” – or simply she did not feel well. We may never know. She is also anemic and will require a blood transfusion. She currently has a feeding tube in place in an effort to jump-start her liver. She is perky and more affectionate then usual…perhaps she knows that we are trying to help her. We are not ready to give up on her yet. As long as she is willing to fight, so are we!
If you didn’t get a chance to donate yesterday, please consider donating towards Lego’s care and help with the fight as long as she is wanting to be here with us.
Donate through the Flanzer Trust link, https://flanzertrust.org/make-a-donation/, and have your donation doubled.
Lego on a nice comfy bed at the ER clinic with her feed tube in, looking pretty good.
