A kind-hearted Samaritan discovered Maggie and her puppy at a garbage dump in Manatee County while he was dropping off some trash. Unable to leave the pair, he took them home and promptly contacted Lost Pet 941 to share their story on social media. While waiting for an owner to step forward, Lost Pet 941 arranged for a veterinary examination, which revealed that Maggie was severely heartworm-positive.
When no one claimed Maggie and her puppy, Lost Pet 941 contacted local dog trainer Iris Eastman for help. After a careful assessment of the situation, Iris determined that the man’s four small dogs were not a suitable match for Maggie. As a result, she took Maggie into her own home to provide care during her heartworm treatment and spay recovery. Fortunately, Maggie’s puppy found a loving new home almost immediately.
Once Maggie had fully healed, Iris contacted Satchel’s for assistance in finding Maggie a forever family. Maggie was welcomed into a foster home with two amazing Satchel’s volunteers, Dale and Tammy, who fell instantly in love with her sweet, gentle personality. It didn’t take long for them to realize that Maggie was the perfect addition to their family. Today, she happily shares her life with two canine siblings, Sophie and Lotus, in a wonderfully loving home. Congratulations to everyone who helped Maggie find her way home!
