Our theme for this year’s 24-hour Giving Challenge is “Be the One to Believe in Me.” There is no better example of needing to believe than Harvey
For those who have not been following his story – Harvey was found as a stray in very bad shape. It was obvious that he’d been on the wrong end of a fight and had the injuries to prove it. Once we had accepted him into Satchel’s, we also learned that his previously negative HW test was incorrect. This poor boy is Heartworm positive in addition to everything else he’s been through.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and he is now in foster care with Kasey, one of the vet techs who cared for him during his stay at Beach Veterinary Clinic.
Here is Kasey’s update: Most of his wounds are healing incredibly well! His left ear pinna (ear flap) is coming along, but the infection in both ear canals is still a work in progress. He will start a new treatment for the ear infections next week. Still on lots of oral meds, multiple baths per week, tons of wound cleaning. Heartworm treatment and some other big procedures still ahead of him, but absolutely no shortage of snuggles over here!
It’s hard to even believe that this is the same dog that showed no emotion, kept his head low and tail tucked, and couldn’t stay standing for too long without being exhausted… less than two weeks of love has really been life changing for him! He is truly a love – he is present for every single bedtime with my daughter, Kora. If they go missing, it’s because he is watching over her while she plays in her room.
Harvey is on his way to his new furever life because you really were The One – you believed in him
