Meet Bronson
Right before closing one night in early November, Animal Services was called about a young male brindle pit mix with a large, open bullet hole in his upper left ribcage. The shooter said he’d shot a dog who had wandered onto his property, he also said he was leaving the dog to die. Animal Services arrived on the scene to find a badly wounded dog lying in a ditch, bleeding profusely. He was rushed to an emergency vet and Satchel’s was called. And so, this was the first day of Bronson’s new life…
Meet Julia
As is always the case at county shelters, there are many dogs in desperate need of being rescued. When we were called about Bronson, we were also alerted to another neglect case and to our horror, another dog who’d been shot. This one by a “rat shot” weapon. We immediately agreed to help and so, just like Bronson, the first day of Julia’s (named for her sweet disposition) new life began..
These two dogs are just the most recent stories of how Satchel’s rescues, rehabs, and rehomes dogs and cats in need.
We’re very proud of our active role in the “no kill” movement in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. With our fellow animal rescues, Counties agencies, and especially, you, our dog- and cat-loving community, we are making the “no kill” dream a reality! In fact, every dog and cat that comes to Satchel’s would have been euthanized if not for your generous support.
So please support us on Giving Tuesday – Our goal is $20,000. One hundred percent of your donation will go to our dedicated veterinary fund. Give for Bronson and Julia and all the dogs and cats that have been left behind because of breed, behavior or medical condition. Together let’s make no kill happen.
